Farscape Season 4 : Episode 3 : What was Lost - Resurrection (Part 2) |
Last week's 'cliff-hanger' showed Crichton drowning having
been drugged / hypnotised into trying to kill himself by the 3-eyed old
lady. In the event, he is rescued by the multi-coloured alien, and to
avoid capture by the Peacekeepers is taken to an underground chamber where
the alien attempts to get the location of the third probe from Crichton by
trying to drown him. D'Argo & Sikozu rescue him with the news that
they have a plan to rescue Chiana & Jool, and escape off the
planet.
Sikozu deduces from Crichton's smell that Commandant Grayza has been using Heppel Oil to entrap him. This is of course the oil excreted from the Heppel gland which the famous concubines of Delos use to seduce people. And it appears that Grayza might have been 'enhanced' with her own gland between her breasts. D'Argo & Sikozu explain that Crichton's part in the escape is to keep Grayza occupied while the rest of their plan can be completed. But they refuse to give him any details in case he tells Grayza when he is under her control. Crichton allows himself to be washed up on the rocks out of the sea and is recaptured by the Peacekeepers. He is then tied up on a slab and interrogated by Grayza. Meanwhile in their cell, Chiana, Jool and Old 3-eyes are talking. Jool has noticed that the magnetic radiation on the surface is rising to dangerous levels. Sikozu turns up and persuades Braka that she has important information. Braka interrupts Crichton's interrogation while he has been explaining about wormholes. Grayza tells Crichton that they have learned of D'Argo's plan. Chrichton becomes angry and blames Scorpius for the plan which displeases Grayza. As a result, she makes Crichton dig a large hole in the ground. And then tells him to shoot Scorpius who has been made to stand in the hole. Chrichton refuses, so Braka shoots Scorpius in the back. He falls, looking dead. Grayza then orders Braka to shoot Sikozu. For reasons unknown, Scorpius gives Sikozu a Peacekeeper Elite codeword that makes the Peacekeepers back down from shooting her. As she leaves Scorpius' grave he whispers not to let them bury him, but unfortunately her suggestion of leaving the body in the open for carrion appears to be ignored. Although we only see one shovel-full of soil cover Scorpius' face. Graza takes Crichton back to the torture chamber / bedroom and carries on the interrogation. He sees one of the insects the juices of which Granny 3-eyes previously said 'numb the brain' for a few minutes. He eats it and manages to convince Grayza to be tied up for a change - some interrogation! D'Argo has persuaded Elack, the dying Leviathan through her Pilot to crash into the planet destroying the Peacekeeper's marauders. Unfortunately, the leviathan decides to crash early while Rygel is still on board. Sikozu joins up with Chiana & Jool and the three of them escape in time to help an escaping Crichton to complete a fire-fight with Braka and the Peacekeepers and get to D'Argo's vessel. Fortunately, the Leviathan first buzzes the marauders giving Rygel an opportunity to escape just before two of the three ships are destroyed. The third ship is damaged as is the Luzan vessel. But the team leave the planet on Lo'la, and having launched a dummy probe for Grayza to chase, they return to the planet. Repairs to Lola will take several hours to complete. Unfortunately they will all be dead from magnetic radiation within an hour. They decide to switch on the three probes and reverse the magnetic radiation. Having recovered the third probe, the multicoloured alien turns out to be a mercenary who is searching for the three probes, and he runs off with them into the sea. Old 3-eyes persuades Crichton to go after them by throwing his missing gun Winona into the sea. His action is justified because all through the episode Crichton has been suffering with guns that don't work or run out of bullets. Crichton duly goes off and recovers the probe and Winona with help from Chiana. The probes are set 600 metres apart, and magically the effect of 1000s of years of magnetic radiation are reversed. The priests from many cycles ago re-appear and carry on as if nothing has happened. Jool decides to stay on the planet to undertake research and guide the priests regarding the current day political situation. Before leaving D'Argo kisses Jool and they make up. Graza is very angry and vows to carry on hunting for Crichton. She threatens Bracca that if she hears anyone talking about her failure in the ships canteen she will be most unhappy. D'Argo sends a message to Moya, but there is no response. The last scene is of Lola towing Crichton's space probe, and the whole crew looking very cramped in the Luxan craft. Crichton asks the old lady what her name is she replies with a lengthy name that will obviously be shortened to Noranti. As you can tell form the length of this write up, this was quite an eventful episode. A lot was going on, some of it at quite a frenetic pace. I wonder at Scorpius' current status - it was a bit off of Sikozu not to mention Scorpius' part in her escape, particularly as he has been (apparently) buried alive. Perhaps we are going to see a resurrection like Spock in StartTrek III The Search for Spock. Enjoy, Rod |
