Farscape The Illustrated Season 3 Companion by
Paul Simpson
& Ruth Thomas Series created by Rockne S. O'Bannon |
For anyone who doesn't watch television, and hasn't read a
SF magazine recently, Farscape is one of the best and most innovative
space opera series to have been produced for several years. On terrestrial
UK TV, the third series finished several months ago, and fans are eagerly
awaiting the fourth series. So the appearance of the Illustrated Companion
to the 3rd Season is most opportune. Refreshing the grey cells, and
stoking the fires of anticipation for the next series. The book contains : - a brief two page introduction (reminder) of the Season 3 finale - three pages on 21 of the 22 episodes - ten pages of a detailed look at the making of the other episode - the 'cartoon' one - ten four page articles on the main characters, together with four pages on recurring characters - 14 pages on the special effects - four pages on the music - a four page introduction to Season 4 - one page lexicon of some of the more common new words used - numerous b & w photographs throughout, together with eight pages of colour photographs. But is it worth it? The b & w photographs are newspaper quality, but it should be remembered that Titan have managed to keep the price down to £9.99, with a bonus of the colour photographs. Certainly if you are seasoned addict, or perhaps someone who is approaching Farscape for the first time, this is worth a read. Definitely if you need a cost-effective aide memoire prior to Season 4. Of course the best solution is a set of DVDs, but that costs considerably more. |
