This is the third in Elizabeth Moon’s Vatta’s War series. The first is Trading in Danger, and I reviewed the second Moving Target last time. You will no doubt recall that the heroine is Ky Vatta, whose family run a powerful trading business, having been forced to resign from the local spaceforce academy, she manages to acquire her “sea-legs” as captain of a small space ship before an unknown enemy attempts to assassinate the whole family.

Engaging the Enemy sees Ky and the few members of the family she has managed to find going on the offensive against their enemies. This is just as fast-paced and readable as the previous books. I still have no hesitation in recommending the series. But would strongly suggest that you start with Trading in Danger confident in the knowledge that you have three excellent books to read in front of you. The fourth volume Command Decision is due out in April. And I cannot wait to get hold of it.
